The 17 year life cycle of these particular cicadas is truly a mysterious miracle of nature. Just as we are leaving the last part of the pandemic and phasing back into the realities of our own lives, I find the message of resiliency settling upon my thoughts. Marking our personal trials of life can be an empowering gesture, but also one that helps us remember our collective experiences.

I’m currently making my cicada necklaces and earrings with the wings of these creatures. All Brood X specimens are collected locally and are cruelty free.
